Members, do you remember the good old days when everyone had a defined benefit pension? A safety net, that after a 20 and 30 year career guaranteed that you would never outlive your savings, it wasn’t a king’s ransom but it provided every retiree some security.
Well, as Joni sings above, it’s gone.
In its place is a 401K (defined contribution) plan. For the past 5 years of the plan the average participant has $9,694 dollars in their account…AFTER 5 YEARS.
We believe that the choice legislators made 5 years ago was wrong. We believe people should retire with dignity and security. We believe we can get a pension back.
